RIAA CEO Mitch Bainwol is a Douchebag

I've been under hiding from this blog because of the damn RIAA shutting down Blogger accounts. This site has been hit twice in a week, first time asking me to take down my recommendation to buy Al Green's Album "Lay it Down," and second was swift removal of promoting Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson's "Soul Men" altogether. Ohter sites have been unfortunate as they have been completely removed.

I'm sick of RIAA not understanding the new move towards digital movement. I fear that once great acts such as Wale that have been built by blogospheres and online promomotion get signed to a major label, The RIAA spits on the fans by sending cease and decist letters for past leaks. These people have given more effort than all the 4 major labels can ever muster up.

To make this fight against the RIAA work, we have to understand the beast. In the words of Chuck D, fighting a company is daunting. Therefore you have to find a "human" to fight, as in the leader of the organization. It makes it much more possible and reasonable to create change.

Get to know Mitch Bainwol, CEO and Chairman of the RIAA. In his bio, he states that "Since joining the RIAA, Bainwol has helped lead the music industry’s campaign to curb piracy and transition its business to the digital world."

I really don't see any transition in the digital world. I just see Lawsuits and threats towards the consumer and music fanatics. Just like the Republicans did with McCain's Campaign, all they are doing is trying to put fear tactics in the consumer as in to say "Purchase physical music only. Any music that turns digital and your ass will be sued."

I am not fully against the RIAA as they do have the right idea to protect music from piracy. I mean there are plenty of so called "Music Blogs" that only post full albums without adding any commentary, which should be taken down. However for sites like this one to put out sample songs from the album with the intention of informing and creating awareness to the readers about new music, should be a different story.

In Conclusion, Fuck you Mitch Bainwol. Blender Magazine may has placed you twelfth in their “Powergeek 25," but I place you Top 5 Dipshits next to the assholes that keep making those "Epic Movie" sequels.
