Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 10:03PM Last week it was announced that Snoop Dogg has begun to work on Doggystyle 2 enlisting the production services of none other than Mr Keys himself, Swizz Beats. I vomited. Rinsed out my mouth, then vomited again. Why would Snoop choose to work with one of the weaker “superstar” producers out there to make the sequel to his classic? Must be all the weed he smoked throughout his life or something. Hopefully if its bad his record company will just pull a Big Boi on him and shelve it. So before the worse can fall upon my ears, let us take a look back at some of the better moments of music in this mans career throughout the week.
So lets start off today with...
Snoop Dogg's Best Features
2pac-America'z Most Wanted
Perfect collaboration between Death Rows brightest stars at the time, is an instant party starter. At the time there was nothing more you could ask for from West Coast Hip-Hop.
Dr Dre-The Next Episode
Hold up waiiiiiiit! As overpraised as Dre is at times, the one thing I can never deny is the chemistry he has with Snoop. Perfect beat for Mr smooth delivery himself to ride.
50 Cent- P.I.M.P(Remix)
Why didn't he just feature him on the original? Another question is why isn't Too Short on this as well? Just sayin...
Jermaine Dupri Welcome 2 Alanta (rmx) ft Diddy, Murphy Lee, and Snoop
Someone had to rep for the west on this. Although Murphey Lee murdered his verse, Snoop came consistent to close out the track well.
Dr Dre-Dre Day
Lets get this straight once and for all. Eazy-E smashed these dudes on the retaliation. I don't care who you are, or how strong Snoops verses were, Eazy... I mean “Sleazy” got at these two hard. Still a good diss track though.
213-Another Summer, Appreciation
My cousin came to me with these tracks when it was originally released. He hipped me to the Kanye West produced joint Another Summer. Which is the same sample him and Alica used for Unbreakable, but it was heard here first. These three work so well together, its ashamed that they didn't work on more music throughout their careers as a trio.
Tha Eastsidez- G'd Up ft Butch Cassidy
If there is any song that made me want to cruise or C-walk, it was this. Though a whole album of these guys was tough to take, this single is still hot. Snoop on the hook especially was very pleasant as well.
Tash- G'z is G'z(rmx) ft Kurupt, Xzibit and Snoop Dogg
Right around the time when Napster came out this was the song dropped. This is a sleeper anthem right here. To me this was New York, New York pt 2. The rhymes are just insane on this. Snoop surprisingly comes strong as well. Anytime anyone wants to hate on West Coast rap I will send them this track and watch them be silenced.
Tomorrow: Snoops Almost Top Ten songs
