Lebron James,
losers,
the heat

I woke up to news of terrific Dallas Mavericks 4th Quarter comeback
victory against the Miami Heat. Didn't have the oppurtunity to watch
it take place, but I did read some great reporting on the game from
Johnathan Abrams this morning, and am excited the Mavs won. What
continues to bother me though is that people who are on this whole
Heat bandwagon at the moment.
Lately I have had many discussions about the Lord of The Rings trilogy
of books and which delves into the very essence of evil on earth. The
antagonist and their struggles to overcome the villain and his forces
was very slim, yet the resonated with those of us who have read the
books. The evil of King Solomon was easy to identify in the story and
therefore we all were rooting for the simple Hobbits and imperfect
beings that aided them in their quest despite their faults. With the
Miami Heat I don't think their evil is quite exposed yet. So let me do
my best to point out why you should root against this organization.
The Age of Hype
We live in an age where hype has replaced substance. Whether it's
seeing 60 new articles about Odd Futures antics, Dr Dre's Detox, or
Osama Bin Ladans capture, hype rules. None of the aforementioned
things stated deal with real stories and instead play on what ifs, and
other distractions that ignore the heart of the matter. Lebron James
is a child of this movement. Since day one he was declared(by media)
the demigod of the world of NBAchange basketball forever. Yet after 7
seasons little has changed because of him. I would even argue that he
has yet to really carve anything interesting for his legacy. Outside
of his god given talent of basketball abilities and physique. Can you
name one thing remarkable about Lebron James? His most remarkable
game, or moment, or something off the court that might ring a bell?
Since we’re supposed “witnesses”, let one stand and bring forth the
evidence. Waiting....exactly. It's all PR fluff, and that preseason
WWE like celebration him and his cronies had defined what they all our
about... as Pharrell once said on a N.O.R.E hook “Nothing”.
They really don't have a good story
Lets see Chris Bosh is a narcissist, Lebron James quit on his team
before, and Dwayne Wade is an adulterer. And they are the heroes of
the NBA? Give me a break. Not to mention how the Heat in 2006 with the
helps of the NBA officials won a title, these guys are not the people
to root for. Take a minute to remember as well that the President of
their basketball operations is a turncoat himself. Who ditched the
Knicks unexpectedly for their greatest rival at the time. Character is
not something that seems to be empathized at all with this team.
If that isn't enough...
Let us not forget how we were blitzkrieg-ed all summer in America by
the coverage/aftermath of “The Decision”. Anytime I would try to hear
about something in news, Bron had captured media attention by his
announcement. That to this day was one of the worse things I had ever
heard(didn't even watch it) about in sports that year. It made me
detest ESPN, the “reporters” involved, and finally the players and
organization involved. Utterly disgusting, and offensive in every way
possible. Only thing that would have made it worse, is if was hosted
by OJ Simpson on pay-per-view.
So as basketball fans around the world continue to watch the contest
at hand, remember who the true villain is. The Heat stand for a lot of
whats wrong with business, sports, and entertainment. Why you want to
root for these guys is beyond me.
Thankfully the Mav's at the end of the day have won and cast the Heat back into the Fires of Mordor.
Lebron James,
losers,
the heat
