Drake-Thank Me Not

I understand that Drake is successful and it warrants a barrage of hype as well as criticism. I just think this has gone too far. There are too many people posting the things they don't like about him and his music. To be fair I like his album, but I don't think its the greatest thing since sliced bread either. There are definite weaknesses about it as well. I wont go into those cause there are already a million reviews out.

The problem with all this immediate backlash is I feel its very unfair. When there are a tons of people who the Internets should be trashing more. If you want to trash someone on the internet, you should first turn locally. You could instead...

  • Talk about your neighborhood paperboy who throws the paper on your grass everyday instead of on the cement

  • mention that guy at the bus-stop every morning who hums way to loudly with his Ipod on.

  • Or how about that local newscaster who has the morning show where he interviews some sort of stay-at-home mom's club at least 3 times a week when he isn't at some local gym or bakery.

These are all very deserving candidates of backlash and critique if you ask me.

Personally I am all about keeping things grass-roots, so focus on who needs to be critiqued in your local community first, before you go national. I'm sure others will be more enthralled and enamoured by your subject matter and clever wit a lot more actually.

Circles and Circles

Here is a local indie band that has been making some noise in my hometown this year. I wanted to post some of their tracks online for download, but instead I found this remarkable video they made. It does have the indie feel, yet is very creative in its own right. Here's to show that you don't need Hype Willims, Benny Boom, or any other big name video directors out there to make a quality video. All you really need is imagination, and drive. Wish some other talented bands would see this too. Anyways here is the video
